The Greens say Peter Dutton's refusal to admit climate change is impacting rural and regional communities is a disgrace, and more evidence he is not fit to govern this country.
As stated by Greens spokesperson for agriculture, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson:
"There is no bigger threat to Australian farmers than a future of climate breakdown, with growing record extreme weather events already causing significant economic damage and distress across rural communities.
"Peter Dutton was right about one thing: Australia does have a history of floods and droughts, fires and cyclones, but that's exactly why we are so vulnerable to more intense, frequent and catastrophic changes to these historic weather patterns.
"The science tells us that as emissions rise and the planet warms, extreme weather such as droughts, floods, and biosecurity outbreaks will become more intense and dangerous.
"Peter Dutton's refusal to admit climate change is impacting rural and regional communities is a disgrace, and more evidence he is not fit to govern this country.
"Hopefully Australian agricultural communities will wake up to the fact that Peter Dutton and the LNP aren't the party of farmers but are a threat to the future of Australian farming and food production.
"The climate denial of Peter Dutton and the LNP speaks for itself: Dutton has promised to pull out of the Paris Agreement, ramp up fossil fuel production, and rip up environment laws amongst other things - it is straight out of the Trumpian play book. He is a menace to future generations on this planet, especially in the bush."
