E-scooter riders can now enjoy the sights of Nightcliff and Parap with the expansion of micromobility offerings outside the city centre, offering more transportation options for people who live, work or visit Darwin.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the expanded footprint for Beam e-scooters and seated e-scooters provided an environmentally friendly option to explore more of our beautiful city.
"We have opened up the geofencing along Dick Ward Drive, through to Casuarina Drive and Rapid Creek Road in Nightcliff, as well as along Goyder Road to Playford Street in Parap," Mr Vatskalis said.
"The Nightcliff area is home to many iconic pit-stops, including the Rapid Creek Market, Nightcliff Market and Nightcliff Foreshore which offers a spectacular viewing spot to enjoy Darwin's iconic sunsets.
"Parap is home to the Parap Pool, as well as the famous Parap Markets.
"Our Movement Strategy aims to make it easier for people to move around the city by improving streetscapes, infrastructure and connectivity, and this expansion helps us to achieve that goal," he said.
Beam e-bikes continue to be available across the municipality.
E-scooter parking locations located throughout the municipality include the Darwin Waterfront, Darwin city centre, Cullen Bay, Mindil Beach, Fannie Bay, Nightcliff Beach, Banksia Street, Nightcliff Market and Parap Road.
