Public health measures in Perth and Peel will ease from 6am Tuesday, January 4, with the exception of mandatory mask wearing in certain settings and the introduction of proof of vaccination at certain venues.
Based on the latest health advice, and the low number of local community cases, almost all public health measures put in place from 6am Tuesday, December 28 will be eased from 6am tomorrow.
Mask wearing will remain mandatory in all indoor public venues, on public transport and for major outdoor events and outdoor music festivals until 6pm, Friday January 7, subject to review and the latest health advice.
Anyone who has been in Perth and Peel since December 16 and enters another regional area is required to wear a mask as per requirements in Perth-Peel.
All other restrictions will be removed from 6am Tuesday, January 4. This means standing consumption, dancing, music festivals, major events and nightclubs can resume.
Proof of vaccination will now be required for the following venues:
- Nightclubs;
- Music festivals and major events (above 500 people);
- Pubs, taverns, hotels (hospitality) and Special Facility Licenses with a capacity of more than 500 people or these specific licensed venues that trade after midnight;
- Events with an Occasional Liquor Licence; and
- The Crown gaming floor.
People will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, either in a digital or paper-based form, along with approved identification. Visit wa.gov.au to see information on getting proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Both venues and patrons will have a shared responsibility when it comes to proof of vaccination, with venues required to take reasonable steps to ensure all patrons are double dose vaccinated, or exempt.
The State Government is developing a mobile app that is safe, secure and convenient. The app will be available next week and more information will be provided soon.
Everyone in the community is required to play their part to keep WA safe.
Travel to remote Aboriginal communities remain restricted.
Anyone who has been to an exposure site that requires a test, or if they begin to feel unwell must get tested immediately and follow the isolation instructions as per the site information.
Visit the exposure list online at https://www.wa.gov.au/government/covid-19-coronavirus/covid-19-coronavirus-locations-visited-confirmed-cases and check it regularly, as more sites continue to be added in the days ahead.
Getting tested is quick, easy and free and more information is available at www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/covidclinics to find your nearest clinic, and this will help keep your fellow Western Australians safe.
It is vital that all Western Australians ensure they are registering their contact details at businesses and venues where contact registers are mandatory.
The recent cases of COVID detected in Perth show how necessary it is for people to continue to check-in when they visit businesses and venues.
The SafeWA app is an efficient and safe way to assist contact tracing if it is required.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"This is a sensible way forward that allows nightclubs to open and events to take place but with proof of vaccination.
"We still want people to come forward and get tested if they have been to exposure sites and we all need to ensure we abide by COVID safe practices.
"Please continue to wear your mask, follow health directions, get vaccinated and get your third dose if you are due and keep checking in using the SafeWA app.
"Contract tracers are working around the clock and continue to identify new exposure sites, so please keep checking the HealthyWA website."
