East Gippsland Unveils Emergency Dashboard First

East Gippsland Shire Council launched a new Emergency Dashboard to provide our community with centralised access to emergency information and resources.

Developed in partnership with QIT Plus, the Emergency Dashboard brings together real-time, place-based information to help residents and visitors stay informed before, during and after emergency events.

The platform is available on both desktop and mobile and includes live updates on VicEmergency warnings, weather conditions, road and power outages, river heights and other key information drawn from lead agencies. It also links to local hazard mitigation plans, preparedness information, and municipal and district-level emergency planning.

Mayor John White said the dashboard is another step forward in supporting local emergency preparedness and resilience.

"East Gippsland is no stranger to natural disasters - from bushfires and floods to severe storms - our communities have faced some of the toughest emergency situations in the country.

"In these moments, fast, reliable, and locally relevant information is critical. Having one place to find accurate, timely and localised information helps our community prepare, stay safe, and recover more effectively.

"We're pleased to be the first Victorian council to introduce this tool, and we'll continue working with emergency agencies and technology partners to improve how we share critical information with our community."

The Emergency Dashboard offers:

1. A public-facing website accessible via the East Gippsland Shire Council website.

2. Compatibility with all major devices and platforms.

3. A cloud-based system that remains functional under high demand and low-bandwidth conditions.

4. Reliable performance during disaster scenarios, even in low-bandwidth areas.

5. Draws and displays feeds from public sources, for example power outages, river height data, weather warnings, camera/CCTV, road incidents, and fire incidents.
