Introducing Ebb & Flo, the Must-Have New Series for Learner Readers
Hardie Grant Children's Publishing is excited to announce the release of a delightful new children's book series, Ebb & Flo, by internationally acclaimed picture book creators Laura and Philip Bunting. Ebb & Flo was created to bring fun and laughter to the learn-to-read process, for children aged 4-8.
After a decade or so spent raising three keen readers and creating award-winning picture books, Ebb & Flo is the product of Laura and Philip's combined parenting and publishing experience. This subtly insightful new series presents the perfect balance of education and entertainment, in a bid to keep children engaged and excited as they master the tricky skill of reading. Each book in the Ebb & Flo series is comprised of decodable words, high-frequency words and common 'tricky' words to allow budding readers to practise their blossoming skills. The stories themselves are hilarious and emotionally enriching, providing a fun-filled reprieve from dry school readers.

As parents, we've been through the learn-to-read stage three times, and on each occasion, our shared love of reading took a bit of a dip," says Laura. "We found it difficult to find books that catered to the kids' developmental needs, while also keeping their love of reading alive. For the most part, the stories at the learn-to-read stage just stopped being fun. Ebb & Flo is our attempt to remedy that for today's newest readers."
Recent NAPLAN results reveal that nearly one in three Australian students are not meeting minimum literacy standards*, which are crucial for self-confidence, cognitive development, and academic success. The solution is complex, but something we can all do to help is by placing the best books we can into the hands of our learner readers; ones that work hard to reward them for their effort and inspire them to
