Campaspe Shire Council wishes to remind Echuca Moama residents that the Echuca Library will be closed from 13 – 19 April to accommodate Victoria's Legislative Council, the upper house of the Parliament of Victoria, who will sit on Thursday 18 April at the Echuca Library.
Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos encouraged library patrons to make use of the extensive online resources and digital services available 24/7.
"From e-books and audiobooks to online databases and research tools, our digital library offers a wealth of resources accessible from the comfort of your home.
"Additionally, we encourage patrons to stock up on books and materials in advance of the closure. Borrow as many items as you need to keep you entertained and informed during this period."
"Take advantage of our extended borrowing periods to ensure you have plenty of reading material to tide you over as all library loans have been extended so loans are not due during this time.
"We no longer have overdue fines, and the after-hours chute will be closed," Mayor Amos added.
Library patrons are reminded to keep their library items until the Echuca Library re-opens on the 20 April and that all library loans have been extended so loans are not due during this time.
Phone support will be provided and home-based deliveries will continue as usual. All online services will be available and libraries at our other locations will be operating as normal.
Mayor Amos encouraged those who prefer to visit a library in person, to explore other libraries within the municipality.
"Our other libraries and library depots within Campaspe will be ready to welcome you and provide access to their collections and services.
While no access to the library will be permitted during this period, residents are welcome to be part of the public gallery on the actual sitting day, Thursday 18 April. Mayor Amos reminded residents of security requirements to attend the Legislative Council.
"Members of the public who wish to attend the public gallery will be required to show photo ID and to pass through a security point and bag check.
"This is a great chance for MPs to connect with their regional constituents and find out what local issues are," he said.
