Campaspe Libraries will be hosting its annual Echuca Moama Discovery Day on Saturday, 16 March between 10am – 1pm.
The day provides an opportunity for community organisations, sports clubs, service clubs, volunteer groups and not-for-profit groups to promote their activities and endeavours.
Mayor Rob Amos said the event was a great way to showcase community groups in Campaspe. Encouraging participation, he urged community groups to register to attend.
"The Discovery Day is a rare opportunity for groups to have such a large volume of potential new members in one location.
"Whether you're a newcomer or a lifelong resident, events like this reveal the richness of community groups available. It's an excellent opportunity for new residents to discover and connect with these groups.
Mayor Amos also underscored the event's potential for fostering community spirit and connectedness through volunteering opportunities.
"It's a chance for community members, whether new or longtime residents, to explore volunteering opportunities, fostering connections and enhancing our community spirit.
"Volunteers are an important pillar of our community. It is an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling role that provides support and development of our towns. Since the pandemic, our volunteer numbers have declined and many organisations and community groups have felt the effects. I encourage you all to explore volunteering opportunities and give back to the community where you can," he said.
The Echuca Moama Discovery Day will take place outside the Echuca Library, located at 310 Hare Street, Echuca. Community groups interested in participating can obtain application forms from any Campaspe Library or by emailing [email protected]. The deadline for applications is Friday, 1 March.
