An investigation is underway after an elderly man was stabbed in Sydney's Inner West today.
About 3.45pm (Sunday 29 December 2024), emergency services were called to Lyons Road near Williams Road, Five Dock, following reports of a stabbing.
Police have been told an 82-year-old man was stabbed by another man – believed to be aged in his 50s – on the street, before the younger man ran from the scene.
Witnesses went to the assistance of the elderly man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was treated at the scene and taken to RPA in a critical condition.
Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended and have established a crime scene.
As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of slim build, about 170cm tall, with a fair complexion, a bald head, brown facial hair and brown eyes.
He was wearing shorts and a backpack.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the men are known to each other.
