Strike Force Vulcan detectives have charged a 56-year-old man in relation to a series of deliberately lit fires that occurred in Ellenbrook on Monday 8 January 2024.
It will be alleged, between 10.30pm and 11.30pm, the accused ignited several bushland fires in the vicinity of:
- Vasse Park, Lomas Circle
- Grassdale Wetlands, Geographe Loop
- Wyara Park, Liton Lane
It will be further alleged the accused also attended a property on Elmridge Parkway and ignited a grass tree in the front yard of a residential property. Fortunately, the resident was able to successfully extinguish the fire prior to DFES arrival.
Following inquires, the 56-year-old Cloverdale man was quickly located and arrested by Ellenbrook Police.
He has since been charged with five counts of Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage and will appear before the Midland Magistrates Court today, 9 January 2024.
