A 44-year-old man from the northern suburbs is due to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in relation to a two-year-old male dog found in a state of extreme emaciation.
His former partner, a 43-year-old woman who was co-accused in the matter, was convicted in January 2024.
The alleged offence occurred in 2019, but the couple failed to appear when due in court in 2020 and were arrested last year under warrant. The Staffordshire Terrier cross recovered and was rehomed.
A 56-year-old Semaphore Park woman has been charged with two counts of ill-treatment of an animal. The woman allegedly failed to provide adequate and appropriate food and water for eight cats and failed to provide adequate and appropriate living conditions for the animals.
At a previous hearing the court granted the RSPCA's application that the cats be forfeited to the Minister, and they have now been rehomed.

A 36-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman are due to face the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court for the first time, charged with ill-treatment of an animal under SA's Animal Welfare Act.
The charge is in relation to a severely emaciated dog found at the male defendant's Hayborough home in January 2024. The dog has since made a full recovery and remains in protective custody with RSPCA SA.
A 38-year-old Morphett Vale woman is facing one count of failure to comply with a court order made in 2021 that prohibited her from acquiring or having custody of any animals until further order.
It will be alleged that the woman was found to have custody of two dogs, three cats and two lizards when RSPCA SA inspectors attended at her property on 17 November 2023.

It will be alleged that one of the dogs was in emaciated condition and that neither dog nor any of the cats had access to water. A 71-year-old man is due to face the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with two counts of ill-treatment of an animal in relation to a cat that was injured in a steel-jaw trap. The defendant is further charged with breaching Animal Welfare Regulations for allegedly setting a steel jaw trap.
A 49-year-old man from Paechtown is due to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court to face a charge of ill treatment of an animal. The man is alleged to have used a riding helmet to repeatedly strike a horse on its head, thereby allegedly causing unnecessary harm to the animal.
A 48-year-old woman is due to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court charged with failure to comply with a court order restricting the number of animals she is allowed to have in her care or custody. RSPCA SA inspectors attended at the woman's Lewiston property on 17 October 2023 and seized 86 dogs and puppies, three rabbits and two guinea pigs.
In August 2023, the woman was convicted on animal ill-treatment charges in relation to a Parrakie dog breeding facility that had more than 300 dogs and puppies. She received a three-month prison term, suspended on condition of a $500, three-year good behaviour bond.
