Emergency Crews Responding To Fatal Fire, Sugarloaf

Police will prepare a report for the coroner following a fatal house fire in Sugarloaf last night, August 21.

Emergency services were called to the Star Drive property just after 7pm to reports of a large blaze.

Upon arrival, a cabin was located fully engulfed.

Despite all efforts, a person who was in the property at the time, died at the scene.

Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution; however, no one else was physically injured.

The property will remain a crime scene as officers work to confirm the identity of the occupant.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
