Police have declared an emergency situation as a result of a large grass fire burning at Main Beach on the Gold Coast.
The emergency situation was declared at 2:35pm under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act.
An exclusion zone has been established (pictured) extending from the Phillip Park car park in the north, south to the Pacific Mirage Villas, east to the Pacific Ocean and west to SeaWorld Drive.
Evacuations of residences within the exclusion zone have been completed.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area where possible to allow emergency services to access the fire.
