Council is aware of a bushfire burning in Sheffield Rd, Montrose. Residents are advised to follow the advice of the CFA and monitor the VicEmergency app or tune into 774 ABC Radio.
Kilsyth Sports Centre at Pinks Reserve, 115 Liverpool Rd, Kilsyth was opened at approximately 3am as a Relief Centre. The Centre can provide:
- Community Information (public meetings, newsletters, advertising etc)
- Emergency Shelter (including at the relief centre or other accommodation)
- Food and water
- Psychosocial support
- Reconnecting family and friends
- Support for displaced animals.
Yarra Ranges Mayor Councillor Jim Child said, "As usual we're seeing our community come together and helping each other out, in particular the Montrose Township Group are doing some exceptional work.
"We welcome all directly impacted residents to the Emergency Relief Centre and ask that others, who are not in need of that support refrain from coming to the Centre.
"We will provide updates when we have them and our thoughts are with our residents at this distressing time," said Councillor Child.

- Monbulk Aquatic Centre, 26 Baynes Park Road, Monbulk - 8am-6pm
- Yarra Centre, 2451 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction – 8am-6pm
- The Memo, 235 Maroondah Highway, Healesville - 12pm-4pm
- Arts Centre, 3409 Warburton Highway, Warburton – 12pm – 4pm
- Yarra Ranges Regional Museum, 35 Castella Street, Lilydale – 10am – 4pm
- Burrinja Cultural Centre, 351 Glenfern Rd, Upwey – 10am – 4pm
Council's role in an emergency is to coordinate relief and recovery activities in partnership with agencies such as the Red Cross, other local relief agencies, The Salvation Army and local community organisations.
