Employee charged with fraud totalling over $10 000 involving two aged-care residents at Marsfield

A man will face court after he was charged with allegedly committing over 350 fraudulent transactions amounting to over $10 000 involving two aged-care residents in Marsfield last year.

In December 2020 Ryde Police Area Command received information that a number of fraudulent transactions had occurred in relation to a resident of the facility, and an investigation commenced.

Following inquiries, Ryde detectives attended a house in Blaxland Parade, Eastwood and executed a search warrant and arrested a 35-year-old man about 7.40am today (Thursday 4 February 2021).

The man was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception.

Police will allege in court the man took credit cards belonging to an 87-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man and committed 376 fraudulent transactions totalling over $10 000.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 17 February 2021.
