End Of Term Report: 2021-2024

Murray River Council

Murray River Council has released its End of Term report, marking the final year of the Council elected in 2021 and a period of challenges, growth and achievement.

The report, a requirement under the Local Government Act, summarises the achievements and progress of the elected council over the current council term and is linked to the top-level objectives outlined in the Community Strategic Plan.

Due to COVID 19, under direction from the NSW Government, the last term of council was extended and subsequently, the current term of council was shortened to only two years and nine months.

Mayor Frank Crawley said the End of Term report is a great way to reflect on the achievements of council, which includes 19 awards and recognitions.

"To achieve so much in such a short time is compelling. Even more so, as council spent a considerable time and effort recovering from the devastating impact of the floods post December 2022."

"Whilst initially Council had a set path via our Community Strategic Plan and Delivery Program, adapting and pivoting has been vital to ensure we were able to support our community after the floods in the most effective and efficient way possible."

"What ensued was a large advocacy campaign for support of our affected businesses and the largest capital works program this council has seen as we delivered reconstruction and recovery works on our transport network, along with pre-planned infrastructure projects. It really is a great achievement."

The end of term report details key projects that have been delivered over the past council term such as infrastructure improvements, corporate improvements, events, governance projects, tourism, environmental and advocacy efforts.

"I would like to extend my appreciation to all Councillors, including former councillor and Mayor Chris Bilkey, for their leadership and support during a term that was filled with challenges and triumphs," Cr Crawley said.

"I also want to thank our staff who have continued to work diligently to deliver on Council's strategic direction and implement the many projects, programs and services to our community."
