A new $116 million partnership between the Australian and Queensland Governments will reduce power bills across the state. The partnership will deliver energy performance upgrades for up to 32,000 social housing properties.
It will support a range of energy performance improvements including:
- ceiling insulation
- air cooling solutions and ceiling fans
- solar systems
- energy efficient hot water systems.
The partnership aims to improve thermal comfort, reduce energy consumption and reduce power bills. The matched funding will ensure residents in social housing can keep their homes warmer in winter and cooler in the Queensland summer.
The Queensland Government has commenced the rollout of these energy performance upgrades.
This investment is part of the government's $300 million Social housing energy performance initiative, which is helping to fund upgrades for up to 60,000 social housing properties across Australia.
