Energy Upgrades for 4,300 WA Homes

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Australian Government and Western Australian Government are partnering to implement the WA Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative to upgrade social housing properties across the state.

Up to 4,300 Western Australian households will benefit from home energy performance upgrades. The Australian Government and Western Australian Government will jointly invest $63.2 million.

The initiative will help remote and regional social housing residents in hotter climates:

  • reduce their energy bills
  • keep their homes cooler in summer.

The initiative will run until 2027. It will target residents in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid-West and Goldfield regions.

The initiative will deliver energy upgrades including hot water systems and lighting.

The WA Government will select social housing properties for upgrades.

This investment is part of the Australian Government's Social housing energy performance initiative, which is helping to fund upgrades for over 100,000 social housing properties across Australia.
