We recently held our Engage for Impact event both in Sydney and online, designed to support members with the insights, skills, and networks needed to navigate Australia's political landscape and build valuable connections for their organisations.
The Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP — as well as public affairs experts H/Advisors— provided practical advice on how to navigate the political environment, effectively engage with local members and build political advocacy for your business or organisation.
With thanks to our host partner and AusBiotech member Grant Thornton, the event was a practical platform to build relationships, share knowledge and strengthen advocacy across the ecosystem.
To complement Engage for Impact, we're pleased to share a suite of new practical resources designed to support our members — useful insights, tools and guidance to help you navigate Australia's political environment and engage effectively with decision-makers.
Engage for Impact "represents another example of AusBiotech's important programs to educate, enable and add value to its members and our broader industry," FivepHusion CEO and Managing Director Dr Christian Toouli says.
Dr Toouli found the event insightful: "This was an incredibly valuable event," he says. "It was great to meet the Speaker and to highlight the exciting work we are doing at FivepHusion to develop next generation cancer therapeutics for Australian and international patients.
"The event emphasised that advocacy can be most impactful for policy makers by contextualising the messaging to the needs of each parliamentarian's own electorate, whether it be through the opportunity for creation of highly skilled employment, enablement of advanced manufacturing, or the treatment of local patients in clinical trials."
Events like these reflect AusBiotech's ongoing commitment to supporting our members — from early-stage innovators to established leaders — to engage effectively and advocate with clarity and confidence.
It's part of our promise to deliver member value by creating connections, enabling knowledge-sharing, and supporting the translation of research into real-world solutions.
These events showcase how we bring the life sciences community together to advance shared goals and advocate for conditions that support innovation, commercialisation, and long-term sector growth.
As Australia's life sciences peak body, AusBiotech remains committed to elevating the sector's voice — and ensuring you are heard where it counts.
