Nature lovers with a passion for photography can now submit their best images of the Macarthur region's diverse flora, fauna and stunning landscapes in the Macarthur Nature Photography Competition.
The competition is open to everyone in the Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly areas and includes more than $3000 in prizes.
Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said the competition draws hundreds of entries each year from professional and amateur photographers across the region.
"It's always fantastic to see the wide range of entries in the Macarthur Nature Photography Competition, showcasing the amazing array of plants and animals we have in Macarthur," Cr Lound said.
"Whether you're a professional photographer or a school student with a passion for photography and nature, then I encourage you to submit your best pictures for the competition," he said.
This year's themes include:
- Australian Native Plants, Animals and Pollinators – Capturing images of life cycles, spring, macro-invertebrates, new growth, seasonal changes
- Threatened Species – Our rare, endangered and vulnerable native plants, animals and pollinators
- Caring for Country – People helping, enjoying or connecting with the natural environment including our iconic waterways
Categories include:
- Primary school, aged 5 to 12 years
- High school, aged 13 to 18 years
- Open, aged 18+ years
- People's Choice
- Professional
The competition is open from Monday 3 March and closes on Tuesday 22 April.
Primary and high school teachers can access teacher's resource kits to help their students participate in the competition and learn about the Macarthur region's natural environment.
