Envoy Finkenauer Heads to South Korea

The U.S. Department of State Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues, Abby Finkenauer, will travel to Busan, Republic of Korea (ROK), from July 10-12, 2024, to participate in the first-ever U.S.-ROK-Japan Trilateral Global Leadership Youth Summit. This landmark event underscores the United States' dedication to fostering youth engagement and regional cooperation.

Co-hosted by U.S. Embassy Seoul, U.S. Embassy Tokyo, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, the ROK National Institute for International Education, Busan Metropolitan City, and implemented by the East-West Center, the Summit brings together 45 delegates representing the United States, ROK, and Japan as well as five representatives from the Department of State's youth leadership programs in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Island Countries. During the Summit, Special Envoy Finkenauer will lead an advocacy and storytelling workshop, guiding participants as they discover and express their narratives. She will also serve as an advisor for the Summit's pitch competition, providing mentorship and insights to the young leaders as they develop strategies for effective trilateral cooperation. The Special Envoy's participation reflects the United States' commitment to empowering emerging leaders and fostering collaborative efforts across the Pacific region.
