Work to make it easier to find incredible visitor experiences within in our parks and reserves continues.
Minister for Parks, Nick Duigan, said a tender has been advertised seeking submissions from interested providers to assist Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service deliver a contemporary online booking system.
"The new system will provide a seamless experience for locals and visitors to book campsites – as well as other parks products and services, including parks passes, walks and tours," Minister Duigan said.
"Tasmania is rich in natural beauty and our national parks and reserves are a major drawcard for visitors and locals alike.
"To make it easier to find world class experiences, the Tasmanian Government committed $1.5 million as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, to deliver easier access to Parks products, which was in addition to the initial $500,000 for scoping works."
The Expression of Interest phase has now commenced seeking submissions to develop the new system.
Those shortlisted through the EOI process will be invited to participate in the request for proposal, with stakeholder engagement and consultation sessions to run in parallel throughout the course of the project.
"We have a strong track record of investing in our parks and reserves, but we recognise we must continually be innovative to keep our competitive advantage" Minister Duigan said.
"Visitors and locals alike will be able to plan their trips with confidence and tourism operators will benefit from improved visitor reporting that will also inform future planning.
"It is terrific to see this important project gaining momentum and I look forward to seeing it take shape."
Interested parties are encouraged to make a submission on the Tasmanian Government Tenders website.
