EOIs Open for Extended Private Rental Incentive Scheme

Members,

Expressions of interest in for the Tasmanian Government's highly successful, expanded Private Rental Incentive Scheme are now open.

The scheme incentivises owners to make their properties available for affordable rent to households on low incomes.

Acting Minister for Housing and Planning, Roger Jaensch said the expansion of the Private Rental Incentive Scheme to unlock a further 200 homes will support another 200 families with affordable rents across the state.

"This Tasmanian Liberal Government is getting on with the job of putting more roofs over the heads of Tasmanians," Minister Jaensch said.

"The Private Rental Incentive Scheme means backing more Tasmanians to invest in property and more support for renting families with the cost of living.

"Expanding this scheme will provide immediate relief and options for more Tasmanian renters.

"Rents will be between 25 and 30 per cent below median rates and in return investors will receive an incentive payment of up to $200 a week, guaranteed rental income for two years and fee-free property management.

"We are seeking expressions of interest from property owners who would like to be part of the expanded program by supplying properties that are close to major urban centres, transport services and amenities."

The Tasmanian Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future supports more Tasmanians into their own homes and supports its commitment to deliver an additional 10,000 social and affordable homes by 2032.
