Young people between 16 and 25 are invited to apply for the 2025 Youth Parliament Program, offering a unique opportunity to develop leadership and advocacy skills while making meaningful changes in their community.
In 2025, The Y Victoria's Youth Parliament program will mark its 39th year, continuing its legacy as the longest-running annual state forum for young people to call for change in Victoria.
The program is designed to give young Victorians an opportunity to participate in the parliamentary process of the Victorian State Government, and a chance to advocate on issues they are passionate about that are relevant to all young people.
A team of six participants will be selected to attend two residential camps at YMCA Lake Dewar Discovery Camp, Myrniong, where they will receive training in public speaking and leadership, mentorship from experienced leaders, and learn the parliamentary processes.
From their research, participants will develop a Bill, which they will debate in the Victorian Parliament over three days during Youth Parliament Week in July 2025.
Expressions of Interest are now open until midnight on Sunday 1 December 2024 and can be made by filling out an online form at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/YouthParliament

Mildura Rural City Council's Manager Community Care Kealey Lush encouraged young people to get involved.
"Over the years we've seen a number of Bills presented by our Mildura teams form the basis of legislation in the Victorian Parliament, addressing social issues, education and the environment," Ms Lush said.
The Bills include Mildura Passenger Train Restoration Bill 2022, Increased Environmentally Sustainable Strategies Bill 2023 and Increased Housing Affordability for Tertiary Students Bill 2024.
"We're excited to see more young leaders from our region take part in next year's program and create lasting change," she said.
This opportunity is funded by Mildura Rural City Council and YMCA at no cost to successful applicants.
