Ahead of the 2026 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD 2026), ESCWA is organizing a series of online preparatory sessions in May. The sessions will address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under review this year, with a focus on the impact of conflict on progress and on mechanisms for building regional resilience.
Additional special sessions will also be held to further strengthen SDG integration around selected regional priorities, in line with the 2026 High-level Political Forum (HLPF) theme: "Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for a sustainable future for all".
The sessions will bring together high-level government representatives and stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, academia, and international organizations. Each session will generate key messages to be submitted to the HLPF and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
