The ETH Board has just approved Françoise Bommensatt as EPFL's new Vice President for Finances for the 2021-2024 period. The new EPFL management team is thus complete and, for the first time, half of its members are women.
Françoise Bommensatt comes with an impressive track record in managing finances in the higher education sector. In fact, she brings more than 30 years of solid experience and leadership skills through her time as a finance leader with public as well as international private equity-owned companies. She thus brings a diversity of business experience to EPFL, having also worked for several multinational companies in Germany and France.
Françoise Bommensatt is currently the Chief Financial Officer at the Swiss Education Group, a leader in business and hospitality management based in Montreux, where she plays an instrumental role in the group's strategic development. She is also a strong financial executive with demonstrated success in transformation processes from her roles as the Executive Managing Director at the Collège du Léman (an international school in the Geneva region) and CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research).
Françoise Bommensatt holds a Master's degree in business administration and quantitative analysis from Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, and a DESS International Finance postgraduate degree from the same university. She is passionate about art and speaks French, English and German fluently.
With Françoise Bommensatt as EPFL's Vice President for Finances for the 2021 to 2024 period, the new management team is now complete and, for the first time in the School's history, half of its members are women. Martin Vetterli and the rest of the management team wish Françoise Bommensatt a warm welcome and are very much looking forward to working with her. She will start at the latest in October 2021.
Marc Bachelot has been the acting Vice President for Finances since 1 January 2021. Since training as an engineer at the École des Ponts in Paris, Marc Bachelot has focused his career on operations and finance positions in France, the United States, Italy and Switzerland. EPFL's management team wishes to thank him for his excellent work. He will remain in this position until Françoise Bommensatt joins us, after which he will continue to play an important role in EPFL's finances.
