Ethiopian-born Man Charged With Eight Visa Breaches

An Ethiopian-born man is expected to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (11 July, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with the conditions of his visa.

The AFP charged the man, 61, on 10 July, 2024, after he was located in Sydney.

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa by going within 200m of a school or childcare centre.

The man has been charged with eight counts of failing to comply with the requirements of his bridging visa, contrary to section 76DAB(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
