Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency Mr. Jean-Eric Paquet and his delegation visited Tokyo Tech on January 12, 2023.

Ambassador Paquet and his group were welcomed at President Masu's office, where they were joined by Executive Vice President for Institute Strategy and Provost Isao Sato, Executive Vice President for Research Osamu Watanabe, Vice President for International Affairs Nobuhiro Hayashi, and Senior Aide to the President Yoichi Oshima.

After an overview of Tokyo Tech by President Masu, Ambassador Paquet expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit and spoke about Horizon Europe — a major EU funding program for research and innovation that he promoted in his former role as Director-General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission. Several Tokyo Tech faculty members have participated in Horizon Europe, and the discussion ended with a friendly exchange of views on the value of international research cooperation with the EU.
