Eureka Aquatic Centre Earns Gold Safety Endorsement

Following on from the successful Gold accreditation of Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre (BALC) in 2024, Eureka Aquatic Centre has also been awarded the coveted endorsement from Life Saving Victoria.

The Gold status of both pools recognises the City of Ballarat's ongoing commitment to excellence in safety and compliance following a rigorous pool safety assessment.

The assessment measures the facility's performance against industry, state and national standards, guidelines and legislation. Only facilities that meet 100 per cent of these criteria are awarded Gold status.

City of Ballarat Aquatic and Leisure Services Manager, Gerald Dixon, said the endorsement is a testament to the dedication of the BALC team and a major milestone for a much-loved community facility.

"Achieving Gold status at both pools is no easy feat," he said.

"The endorsement of both BALC and now Eureka shows our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for every single one of our community members that walks through our doors."

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves joined BALC staff and Life Saving Victoria representatives on Thursday to celebrate the milestone.

"This achievement reflects our dedication to safeguarding the wellbeing of everyone in our community," she said.

"We will continue to prioritise safety and excellence across all City of Ballarat managed pools and are proud to be recognised as a leader in the industry."

The accreditation is valid for 12 months and forms an important component of BALC's overall safety planning and continual improvement strategy.
