On 27-28 June, a big conference was held on the past and future of Europe's free travel area: the Schengen zone. The Europa Institute, represented by Jorrit Rijpma, joined forces with the Odysseus Network of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Konstanz University and the Royal Egmont Foundation.
At the Egmont Palace in Brussels some of the key actors that laid the foundations for Schengen met with academics and policy makers currently working to maintain and strengthen the Schengen zone.
Jorrit Rijpma addresses specifically the topic of Schengen governance, which is aimed at fostering high level political dialogue on Schengen matters, as well as better implementation of the Schengen rules by the Member States.
