Jülich, December 11, 2023
What challenges does quantum technology face in terms of the research and political landscape in Europe? This central question was the focus of the 'Quantum Technologies in Europe' conference, held from November 22 to 23 in Madrid.
In addition to scientific lectures, a highlight was a panel discussion chaired by Jülich quantum physicist Prof. Tommaso Calarco. The Director of the Institute for Quantum Control (PGI-8) at Forschungszentrum Jülich discussed the growing European quantum community and which aspects are missing in the current development of quantum research in Europe with renowned participants, including the two Nobel Prize winners Prof. Anton Zeilinger and Prof. Serge Haroche. The panel participants also looked at research funding in the field of quantum technology in Europe as well as collaborations beyond European borders.
The conference "Quantum Technologies in Europe" was organized by the Spanish Research Agency AEI and the Spanish Ministry MAETD in collaboration with QuantERA and the EU Quantum Flagship. QuantERA, as a European program, helps to strengthen collaboration and promotion of research and innovation in quantum technology.
