Midland Detectives have charged 38-year-old man in relation to an incident early yesterday, Tuesday 9 February 2021, in which the driver of a vehicle failed to stop for police.
About 10.40am, a Kia Cerato was sighted by police driving recklessly in Gidgegannup.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and it is alleged the driver failed to stop and an evade police incident occurred through the suburbs of Jane Brook, Bellevue, Mundaring and Sawyers Valley.
The Kia Cerato was then sighted by police near Mundaring before continuing down Great Eastern Highway, where the vehicle eventually came to a stop.
Both the driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by police at the scene.
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Northbridge was charged with a number of offences including:
• Driver failed to stop (circumstances of aggravation)
• Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
• No authority to drive (other than fines)
• Obstructing public officers
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates' Court on 12 February 2021.
