Southern Regional Operations Group officers have charged a man as a result of an evade police incident last night, Tuesday 15 November 2016.
Around 9:10pm, police saw a Ford Falcon travelling above the posted speed limit on Mortimer Road, Bertram, WA Police say.
It will be alleged the driver failed to stop when requested to do so and drove onto the Kwinana Freeway heading south. The vehicle continued at speed until police lost sight of the vehicle.
The police helicopter located the Ford and monitored it’s movements, advising police officers on the ground.
The Ford continued along the freeway before turning off at Mundijong Road. The Ford continued travelling south along Mandurah and Safety Bay Roads.
It is further alleged the driver of the Ford travelled through the Mandurah entertainment area and Pinjarra, Rafferty and Mandurah Roads at excessive speed before the driver conducted a U-turn and headed north on Mandurah Road towards Coodanup.
The driver continued through Pinjarra and collided with the rear of a police vehicle in Yarloop. The police vehicle received minor damage and no-one was injured.
With the assistance of information provided by air wing officers the vehicle was stopped by police on the South Western Highway near Uduc Road in Harvey.
A 28 year old man from Coodanup has been charged with:-
•Driver of Vehicle Failed to Comply with Direction to Stop (circumstances of aggravation);
•Reckless Driving – Dangerous to the Public or any Person (to escape pursuit by police);
•No Authority to Drive (never held);
•Possess Controlled Weapon and
•Breach of Bail.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 16 November 2016.
