Mandurah Detectives have charged two people with a total of 14 offences following an evade police incident that occurred in Perth and Mandurah yesterday, Tuesday 3 September 2024.
About 7.45pm, Police Air Wing were monitoring a grey Holden Commodore sedan – which had earlier been stolen from a home in Coodanup – as it exited the Kwinana Freeway at Lakes Road in Greenfields.
The vehicle travelled through Greenfields to Mandurah where it crossed to the wrong side of Mandurah Road, causing a collision between multiple vehicles as the drivers attempted to avoid the Holden. Nobody was injured.
The Holden travelled through Dudley Park before it eventually stopped outside a home near the corner of Scarsdale Avenue and Tankerton Drive in Coodanup.
The male driver and four passengers – two females and two children aged under six – then exited the Holden.
One of the females then re-entered the Holden and attempted to drive away; however, was stopped a short distance away and arrested.
A short time later, the man was located hiding in a bin outside a home on Tankerton Drive.
Following inquiries, the 30-year-old man was charged with 12 offences, including;
• Steal Motor Vehicle;
• Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly;
• Burglary and Commit on a Place;
• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation); and
• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 4 September 2024.
A 32-year-old Coodanup woman was also charged with two counts of Steal Motor Vehicle.
She is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday 27 September 2024.
The second female and two children were located at the home on Tankerton Drive. The female was not charged.
