Police have charged a 16-year-old boy following an evade police incident which occurred across Perth's metropolitan area yesterday, Thursday 22 March 2024.
It will be alleged, about 10pm, officers from Central Regional Operations Group attempted to stop a white Mitsubishi Pajero SUV on East Street in Maylands.
Police activated emergency lights and sirens; however, the driver failed to stop.
An evade police incident began, before it was abandoned due to the manner of driving.
A short time later, detectives from the Rapid Apprehension Squad observed the Mitsubishi travelling on Tonkin Highway in Redcliffe.
Police again activated emergency lights and sirens; however, the driver failed to stop.
Following communications with officers on the ground, Police Air Wing monitored the Mitsubishi before it eventually stopped on Spiderlilly Mews in Karrinyup about 10.25pm.
The driver and passenger of the Mitsubishi – both 16-year-old males – were arrested at the scene.
The driver was charged with;
- Driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation)
- Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
- No authority to drive (never held)
- Driver failed to stop – property damage
He is due to appear in Perth Children's Court on Thursday 28 March 2024.
The passenger was released without charge.
