The Hodgman Liberal Government will bring forward works to upgrade Evandale Road in the State’s North, as a part of our Northern State Road Upgrades program.
Evandale Road is an important road for locals, tourists and businesses travelling from the Airport to Northern Tasmania, and these works will result in improved safety and productivity ahead of schedule.
Upgrades like this confirm we are building the infrastructure our growing state needs for the future as more people than ever choose our state as the place to visit, live, work, or raise a family.
Construction will start next week with shoulder sealing works along four kilometres of Evandale Road starting at Leighlands Road and heading towards the Launceston Airport roundabout.
It follows other important works that are progressing right around the state, such as the $92 million Perth Link Roads project, phase one of the Hobart Airport Roundabout project, and upgrading Richmond Road.
A tender for Richmond Road was recently advertised for the next stage of upgrades on this important tourist and regional connector route, with works to start later this year and be completed by mid-2019.
Tasmania is growing, and the evidence is clear that we are responding with a long term strategy and significant investment in infrastructure that will improve the lives of every Tasmanian.
