Ex-Teacher Charged in Kelso Historical Sex Assaults

Chifley Police District detectives have charged a former Kelso primary school teacher with multiple historic sexual assault offences alleged committed against students in the late 80s.

In May 2023, detectives attached to Chifley Police District under Strike Force Doing commenced an investigation into reports of historic sexual assaults allegedly committed by a primary school teacher in Kelso between 1988 and 1990.

During the investigation strike force detectives were told the former teacher allegedly targeted students during school classes, sporting trips and planned sleepovers at the children's homes.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 68-year-old man at Sydney International Airport about 11am Saturday (29 March 2025), before taking him to Mascot Police Station.

He was charged with 15 counts of sex assault/indecent assault person under 16 years old – under authority, four counts of sexual intercourse person between 10 and 16 years old – under authority, and sexual intercourse with person under the age of 10 years.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Sunday 30 March 2025), where he was granted bail to appear before Gosford Local Court on Monday 26 May 2025.
