Award-winning Western Australian hospitality operator Noktural Pty Ltd has signed a long-term lease with the State Government, marking a new way to reactivate Yagan Square.
Nokturnl was selected as the preferred proponent through a competitive process, with a proposal to deliver a vibrant new destination at Yagan Square's Market Hall, in the heart of the Perth CBD.
Nokturnl operates the award-winning The Old Synagogue in Fremantle, which comprises four unique hospitality venues within a state heritage-listed site, and recently opened Highgate venue The Beaufort.
The reconfigured Market Hall will follow the successful approach adopted at Nokturnl's other venues, and will feature venues suitable to all age groups.
The lease agreement comes as Western Australians have also been given their first look at the future of the Market Hall at Yagan Square, with the release of concept designs for the proposed new multi-function hospitality and event space.
The proposed concept is aimed at breathing new life into Yagan Square by joining the new additions and refurbishments into the existing location, as well as improving the adjoining family-friendly playground and grassed area.
As part of the revitalisation strategy at Yagan Square, an exciting program of activations and events is set to take place over the coming months, including school holiday activities.
The program has been developed in collaboration with key partners including TourismWA, the City of Perth, Perth Theatre Trust, and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

"As a prime location in the heart of our city, Yagan Square was designed to be a major drawcard for residents and tourists, but the challenges of the past two years have meant it has not lived up to its potential to date.
"Our Government wants Yagan Square to be a vibrant, safe, family-friendly space, constantly buzzing with offerings and activities that attract residents and tourists alike, day and night.
"I'm deeply proud our Government has moved to identify the best opportunity to revitalise this important precinct in the heart of the Perth CBD, and has committed $5.4 million towards the upgrade of Yagan Square's Market Hall.
"The State has now entered into a lease with award-winning WA hospitality operator Nokturnl, to deliver a new chapter for the Market Hall at Yagan Square.
"Nokturnal has runs on the board with successful business activations at the Old Synagogue in Fremantle and the Beaufort in Highgate.
"With the new concepts released today, the team behind the Beaufort and the Old Synagogue is set to develop another exciting hospitality destination set to appeal to all ages, including residents and tourists alike.
"The closure of the Market Hall and relocation of two new external tenancies on the southern boundary means we can move ahead in delivering amazing premium hospitality space, activated by multiple events."
