The new Western Australian Museum is on track to open in the Perth Cultural Centre in November, and is today advertising up to 30 new permanent positions for frontline visitor services staff, as well as opportunities to join a pool of casual staff.
The positions are a mix of full-time and part-time Visitor Services Officer (VSO) roles. VSOs are key to creating an excellent journey and memorable experiences for every museum visitor.
The new museum will share the stories of Western Australia's people and places. People from diverse backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply for these positions. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those from multicultural backgrounds will be an important part of the team sharing the stories of our State with the rest of the world.
The new museum will be a gateway for visitors to explore the wonders of Western Australia and will be a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone. It is one of seven public sites managed by the Western Australian Museum - a vibrant centre of inspiration, learning and enjoyment for people of all ages.
The WA Museum preserves, documents and shares collections relating to the State's natural and cultural heritage. It collaborates with people across WA to share the voices and stories of diverse communities. It works alongside national and international partners, contributing to global research, promoting life-long learning, and hosting world-class exhibitions.
The new museum building in the Perth Cultural Centre is a stunning architectural statement with deep historical roots. Designed by the international consortium of Hassell+OMA, it ingeniously integrates five of Perth's most extraordinary heritage buildings with a new, dynamic build that boasts clean lines and dramatic spaces.
As part of the major building works the interiors of the heritage buildings have been cleaned and restored, and beautiful architectural features revealed.
