Exciting Times Ahead For Fairfield City

Congratulations to the newly elected and returning councillors from the September election. I look forward to working with them to make our City better for everyone.

We have plenty of activities and events to look forward to in the coming weeks. The popular 'Design the Mayor's Christmas Card Competition' is now open to children ages 5 to 12 years living in or attending school in Fairfield City. This is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit, with the winning design featured on Council's official Christmas card for 2024 going to every household across the City. Head to our website to download and print an entry form.

We have a full program of free, family-friendly events lined up for Halloween. Join Bonnyrigg Library for a special Halloween evening storytime on Thursday 24 October from 6.30pm, or head to Canley Heights Town Centre on Saturday 26 October 2024 from 4pm for the ultimate Halloween party serving up trick-or-treating, prizes for best costumes, and fireworks! The popular 'Halloween at the Museum' also returns at Fairfield City Museum & Gallery on Thursday 31 October from 5pm. Dress up in your scariest costumes, and enjoy a night of spooky games, crafts, and trick or treating in the Vintage Village. Registration is required as this event sells out, head to www.fcmg.nsw.gov.au for more.

Christmas is a special time in our City with lots happening for everyone. The 'Light Up Christmas Competition' is a chance to showcase the houses in our City with the best Christmas lights and displays. If you think your house has what it takes, be sure to enter for your chance to win a Christmas hamper valued at $150. Keep an eye out for details on our Facebook page.

Don't forget to donate to the 'Mayor's Christmas Appeal' to make the festive season that little bit brighter for members in our community doing it tough. Unwrapped, new toys and non-perishable food items will be accepted at Bonnyrigg, Fairfield, Wetherill Park and Whitlam Cabramatta libraries, and nominated Woolworths stores. Find the details on our website.

We'll also be lighting up the City with Christmas lights and decorations at roundabouts and intersections, and you can join us for the lighting of the tallest Christmas tree at Epoch Plaza in Fairfield City Centre on Thursday 5 December 2024 from 5.30pm. For the full program of Christmas events head to www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/events.
