Council's draft Operational Plan is on public exhibition from tomorrow and I encourage you to have a look and give us your feedback, which you can do using our easy-to-use interactive map.
The plan outlines all the work and projects we want to undertake for the 2023/2024 financial year to improve our City's liveability for residents.
It takes many months to prioritise works that can be done within our available budget, so it is really important for us to hear your views so we can be sure we meet your priorities and aspirations for our City.
I'm proud of our work over the past few years and Council would like to carry that on to continue to strengthen our City as a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Council will invest $78 million in capital works in the next financial year including the start of work on an indoor Multicultural and Sporting Centre at Fairfield Showground and significant upgrades to Endeavour Sports Park, Fairfield West; Avenel Park, Canley Vale and Brenan Park, Smithfield.
We will also continue with our program of improvements committing millions of dollars on upgrades to local roads, kerbs and gutters ($17.3 million), new and upgraded footpaths ($4.06 million), renewal to buildings and facilities such as community centres, childcare, car parks, libraries and leisure centres ($8.4 million) and upgrades to open spaces such as: parks and reserve amenities, sportsgrounds and play equipment ($2.55 million). These 'every day' projects are really important to support the health and wellbeing of all residents.
This Council has a track record of delivery and I'm committed to getting on with the job of providing the best services and facilities for the families and businesses of our thriving City.
