Joint media release with Jaclyn Symes
The Albanese and Allan Governments are continuing to support Victorian communities impacted by the August severe storm events, by extending funding to an additional 9 Local Governments through the jointly funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
The assistance is for a total of 28 councils impacted by the storms commencing from 25 August 2024, to coordinate debris removal from storm-affected homes to make them safe and habitable.
The joint assistance will help support emergency and asset reconstruction efforts, in particular removing debris impacting essential public infrastructure like roads, footpaths, bridges, and other critical assets.
A total of 28 councils are now eligible for assistance, including: Bass Coast Shire, Baw Baw Shire, Benalla Shire, Campaspe Shire, Cardinia Shire, Casey City, Colac-Otway Shire, East Gippsland Shire, Frankston City, Golden Plains Shire, Greater Dandenong City, Greater Geelong City, Greater Shepparton City, Kingston City, Knox City, Latrobe City, Macedon Ranges Shire, Mansfield Shire, Moonee Valley City, Mornington Peninsula Shire, Murrindindi Shire, Nillumbik Shire, South Gippsland Shire, Surf Coast Shire, Wangaratta Rural City, Warrnambool Shire, Wellington Shire and Yarra Ranges Shire.
