Western Downs Regional Council is set to host the fourth consecutive instalment of Accelerate Manufacturing Conference, with industry experts ready to share their knowledge and discuss current trends and opportunities in the sector.

Businesses, individuals and other manufacturing industry stakeholders are invited to attend this year's free conference in Dalby on Wednesday 21 May, where leaders and innovators from across Queensland will discuss a range of topics pivotal to the industry.

This year's Conference Keynote speaker will be none other than host of the No Bullsh!t Leadership podcast, Martin G. Moore. Mr Moore has over 30 years' experience as a corporate executive, knows what it takes to lead a company and has an extensive understanding of the Western Downs region due to his previous role as CEO at CS Energy.

Council Spokesperson for Business Strategy and Economic Development Councillor Megan James said the Western Downs is at the forefront of manufacturing and it is important to recognise the industry by bringing together industry professionals to share ideas and drive innovation for the future.

"The Manufacturing Conference celebrates the Western Downs as recognised leader in manufacturing and provides an opportunity for the region's 148 manufacturing businesses to come together and share industry knowledge and insights," Cr James said.

"Our region is still experiencing a tremendous period of growth and the region's manufacturing sector is critical to the future success of our agriculture, intensive agriculture, energy and construction industries.

"Seventeen experts from a variety of backgrounds will drive discussions on a varied program of topics including 'sustainable energy and energy saving', 'disruptive technologies', 'manufacturing for the primary industries', and 'skilling, industry pathways and employment'.

"Now in its fourth year, this conference attracts a mixture of those who already work for a manufacturing business in the region, those who may be interested in what manufacturing opportunities exist in the Western Downs, as well as young people interested in joining the industry.

"In the Western Downs, we like to say, 'it's the people that make it' which is particularly true in our manufacturing sector, and I encourage all locals connected or interested in the industry to register for this great opportunity to expand, network with fellow peers and learn from the leaders in the industry."

Queensland Manufacturing Institute (QMI) chief executive officer Ali Davenport said this conference is important for people connected to the industry as it provides an opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities and make new connections.

"In my role I know how important it is to work with local manufacturers, and this event will allow locals to connect with some genuine experts in the industry, and bring people together to learn and collaborate," Mrs Davenport said.

"This is vitally important as it shows our businesses that we value them and that by working together we can grow, find solutions to challenges, and share in our successes.

"It is a great privilege to be involved in this conference and sharing my experiences while learning and networking with a range of industry professionals is valuable to my continued learnings in the manufacturing sector."

Local manufacturing firm Walsh & Ford owner and manager Peter Walsh encouraged local businesses to jump on the opportunity to participate in the conference.

"Knowledge of the future direction for the region is invaluable. This area has been a powerful bastion for manufacturing for over 80 years. The region is important for the Darling Downs and a jewel for Industry in Queensland. So as a participant it's a no brainer and eagerly anticipated," Mr Walsh said.

"What's enlightening is the views and vision of the panellists – All businesses crave certainties; that's why this is a non-miss event."
