Extended Transition Period for CHC Courses

ASQA is empowered to approve transition periods longer than those detailed in Clause 1.26(a) of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015. ASQA will only consider applications for a longer transition period where it can be demonstrated that there would be genuine disadvantage to a cohort of learners if such an extension was not approved.

ASQA has approved an extended transition period for the qualification(s) listed below.

Qualifications

  • CHC50313 Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention
  • CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work
  • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services

Existing transition periods

  • Standard 12-month transition period from 7 December 2022 until 6 December 2023
  • Multiple extended transition periods from 7 December 2023 until 31 July 2025

Extended transition conditions

  • The approved additional extended transition period is from 1 August 2025 until 31 December 2025.
  • The extended transition period only applies to continuing students who commenced formal training and/or assessment in the training product(s) as follows:
    • CHC50313 Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention - commenced by 31 July 2024
    • CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work - commenced by 31 July 2024
    • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services - commenced by 31 December 2024.
  • All students must either complete and receive certification or be transferred to replacement courses by the new transition end date.
  • The extended transition period applies to all RTOs with this qualification on scope. The qualification will remain on RTOs' scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period.

This request was submitted to ASQA by HumanAbility, the Jobs and Skills Council with oversight of the training product(s). ASQA also consulted with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority.
