Cannington Detectives have charged two men in relation to an extortion incident in Cloverdale on Monday 27 January 2020.
About 10:00pm two men attended a residence on Sutherland Way, Cloverdale to speak to a male person who was known to them. The men managed to gain entry to the residence and after not being able to locate the man they were seeking it will be alleged they demanded a woman at the address sign over the ownership of a vehicle, to cover the debt owed by the man they were looking for.
The two men stayed at the residence for several hours, with three other people known to them also attending the residence during that time. The woman was able to alert a friend to the situation, who in turn contacted Police. Police attended the residence and upon their arrival all but one of the group fled the scene. A 23-year-old man, who it will be alleged was one of the first two members of the group to arrive at the residence, was arrested.
A 23-year-old man from Rivervale was charged with 'Demanding Property by Oral Threats'. He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 26 February 2020.
The investigation continued to identify the second person who initially attended the residence. On Friday 31 January 2020 a 23-year-old man from Ferndale was arrested. He was charged with 'Demanding Property by Oral Threats', 'Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit', and two counts of 'Stealing'.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday 21 February 2020 on those charges.
Last night, Thursday 6 February 2020, Police attended the 23-year-old Ferndale man's residence in relation to matters pertaining to his bail conditions, and during that interaction it will be alleged the attending officers located 42 MDMA tablets.
The man was taken into custody and charged with 'Possession of a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply (MDMA)'. The man was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Friday 7 February 2020.
