A range of free digital newspapers is now available to Cessnock City Library members.
Library cardholders can log in to NewsBank – an online platform enabling access to dozens of publications including the Newcastle Herald, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Daily Telegraph, as well as an archive of back issues.
Some titles are available to view in text-only format, while others are also readable as a high-resolution scan of the publication's printed pages.
Members can access NewsBank anywhere they have an internet connection.
Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters said it was a delight to offer the convenient service.
"NewsBank provides a fantastic way for our members to stay informed, research a variety of topics, and connect with the news of our region and the world," she said.
"The ability to access back copies of The Advertiser is an especially exciting feature that I know our local history enthusiasts will appreciate."
Members without an appropriate digital device can borrow an iPad from the Hublet station at the Cessnock or Kurri Kurri library branch to connect to NewsBank.
Cardholders can access the service by entering their membership number on the library's 24/7 eBranch web page and clicking through to NewsBank.
