Sport and recreation committees have an opportunity to receive up to $7,500 (GST exempt) to improve their facilities.

Round 2 of Corangamite Shire Council's 2024-2025 Facility Design Grants Program opens on Monday 7 April.

Mayor Kate Makin said the grants were to help organisations get their projects to an advanced stage of planning so they can attract further funding for construction.

"The program has been run to assist clubs with plans and costings, which will in turn inform Council's Budget process," Cr Makin said.

"Not all funding was allocated from round one of the 2024-2025 program, which opened in November, so we are conducting a second round."

The program provides financial assistance to organisations to fund schematic designs or quantity surveyor costs for the redevelopment or new facilities, where communities conduct, organise and participate in sport and recreation.

"To be eligible, organisation's primary facility must be in Corangamite Shire and able to manage the project within the proposed timeframe," Cr Makin said.

"The projects must provide improved facilities which meet universal design principles and relevant State Sporting Association guidelines.

"Improving and enhancing the experience in sport and recreation for participants and officials."

Guidelines and application forms are available at corangamite.vic.gov.au/Grants.

Applicants are invited to discuss their project/application with Council's Sport and Recreation Coordinator at the Civic Centre, 181 Manifold Street, Camperdown, or on 5593 7100.
