Fairytales For Grownups At Eurobodalla Libraries

Bestselling author Kell Woods is coming to Batemans Bay and Moruya libraries to talk fantasy, folklore and (reimagined) fairytales.

The Nowra-based writer hit the big-time with her debut novel After the Forest, a re-telling of Hansel and Gretel set in the Black Forest in 1650. The book made the UK Sunday Times bestseller list, fascinating a growing fanbase of readers who favour fractured fairytales, history and folklore.

Kell's second book, Upon A Starlit Tide, combining elements of The Little Mermaid and Cinderella will be available in March 2025.

Kell studied English literature, creative writing and librarianship and has worked in libraries for the past 12 years.

"I love working in libraries so I can always be surrounded by stories," Kell says.

"And all the while, I write about made-up (and not so made up) places, people and things you might remember from the fairytales you read as a child."

Attendees will have the chance to engage in lively discussion, ask questions, enjoy refreshments and purchase books signed by the author.

The events will be held on Tuesday 24 September, from 10.30am at Batemans Bay Library and from 2.30pm at Moruya Library. Bookings are essential, through the Eurobodalla Libraries' event webpage or contact Batemans Bay Library on 4472 5850 or Moruya Library on 4474 1333.
