Family First Targets Pro-Abortion Libs, Nats

Family First Party

Liberal and Nationals MPs who vote for Greens MLC Amanda Cohn's radical abortion bill will not receive Family First preferences at the next NSW state election.

Mark Speakman and Dugald Saunders have granted their Liberal and Nationals MPs a conscience vote, despite the bill giving powers to the government to close Catholic hospitals unless they kill unborn babies up until, and in some cases after, birth.

Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said Liberals and Nationals who vote to trash the conscience rights of pro-life health professionals do not deserve the support of mainstream voters.

"Just as we did when the Liberals introduced abortion-to-birth legislation in South Australia, Family First will make a special effort to stand candidates against any member of parliament who votes for this bill and we will preference their opponent regardless of their views," Mr Shelton said.

"The Liberal Party under its founder Sir Robert Menzies was for freedom of conscience and religion. Today those rights are subject to the whims of pro-abortion Liberals and Nationals who would rather back radical Greens' legislation.

"Liberals and Nationals should not be voting for more abortions and for the harms abortion visits upon mothers.

"Liberals and Nationals should not be voting to trash the conscience rights of pro-life health professionals and hospitals."

Mr Shelton said Family First was in the final stages of registering ahead of the 2027 NSW State election and the party would be running more than 20 candidates in NSW at the up-coming federal election.
