The Family First Party calls on both the Coalition and Labor to immediately halt the rollout of taxpayer-funded renewable energy projects in light of Chris Uhlmann's documentary – The Real Cost of Net Zero.
And if elected, the party's Senators will block any funding for renewables, including in the budget.
The documentary, which screened last night, exposes the massive financial burdens imposed on Australian families by the current net zero policies, highlighting unsustainable increases in electricity bills and environmental degradation resulting from politicians' enthusiasm for renewables.
Uhlmann's investigation reveals that the so-called energy transition has already led to a massive increase in household electricity bills with more cost hikes to come.
Additionally, the documentary underscores the environmental toll of large-scale renewable projects, with vast tracts of land being cleared for solar farms, wind turbines and dispersed transmission lines leading to habitat destruction, loss of biodiversity and farmland.
"Chris Uhlmann's documentary should signal the death knell of renewables as an energy source for societies that expect a modern standard of living," said Lyle Shelton, National Director of the Family First Party.
"Clearly they don't and can't work from an engineering and economics point of view and they are cost prohibitive, something Family First has been saying for years.
"Families are already struggling with surging electricity bills and inflation caused by the renewable rollout. On top of that, we're witnessing the wholesale destruction of our natural environment in the name of an unachievable fantasy.
"Labor and the Coalition's commitment to the Paris accords when China and India don't play by the rules and when America is leaving makes no sense."
Mr Shelton said Family First has released a 15 second television advertisement ahead of the federal election highlighting the electricity cost crisis.
The Family First Party contends that, if net zero remains a national objective, the only viable path forward is a coal and gas to nuclear transition.
This approach would provide energy stability while avoiding the economic harm to households and environmental damage caused by rapid renewable adoption.
"Last night's documentary leaves no room for doubt: the renewable rollout is driving families into poverty, pushing electricity bills to unaffordable levels, and ravaging our environment," Shelton added.
"We urge both major parties to act immediately and put the cost-of-living crisis first by halting the renewables rollout."
Family First's Senate candidates for the up-coming federal election —Lyle Shelton in New South Wales, Bernie Finn in Victoria, and Christopher Brohier in South Australia—are committed to fighting for affordable and reliable electricity.
The party will also be announcing a Qld Senate candidate.
