Fans Urged to Celebrate Safely on AFL Grand Final Day

Tasmania Police is urging AFL fans to celebrate responsibly as they prepare for the Grand Final tomorrow.

Acting Inspector Justin Lawson, Tasmania Police Road Safety Coordinator, said AFL Grand Final Day is typically busy for police and other emergency services.

"We will have officers out across the state to ensure everyone can celebrate safely," he said.

"For those planning to enjoy a few drinks while watching the game, we're reminding the people to act responsibly and look out for one another."

"If you're drinking, please make sure to look after yourself and your mates and consider your transport options."

"Driving under the influence remains one of the leading causes of fatal and serious crashes on our roads."

"Police will be actively patrolling, looking out for drivers who make unsafe choices."

"If you've been drinking or taken drugs, please don't get behind the wheel."

"Losing your licence or being involved in a crash that results in serious injury or death is not the way we want anyone to end their Grand Final celebrations."

"Our goal is for everyone to enjoy the day and return home safely."

"You can help by getting an Uber, designating a sober driver, or arranging a lift."

"Let's work together to make this AFL Grand Final Day a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone."
